Targeted Newsletter Writing

by David Tandet

1) What is the purpose of your newsletter?

2) Who is the target audience for your newsletter?

When I’m working with you, I continue to ask myself those two questions every step of the way. The result is targeted newsletter writing that’s focused, informative and interesting for your readers.

With so many delivery formats, planning particulars must be attended to first. Will you be online? Hard copy? Long? Short? Bi-Monthly?

A small service provider’s monthly email can be a cost-effective document that’s typed on a computer, proofread, and emailed to your clients. A printed document that goes out to thousands of employees is organized more like a magazine publishing enterprise. Deadlines for various stages are set, and there must be meetings with designers and printers.

For a large or small operation, a company newsletter can be a great tool to help shape identity, inform current and prospective customers, boost employee morale, and inform people about a particular topic. I’m involved in everything from individual articles to project management.
